Catalyst New Director Opportunity

Hybrid Search is pleased to announce that we are working with the Catalyst Science Discovery Centre and Museum Trust Ltd on the appointment of a Director. We value Catalyst’s unique contribution to the chemical sector not only as a communicator of chemical-science education, skills and knowledge but also, for the vital role they play in preserving the heritage of the chemical sector’s most treasured artefacts, publications and local history. Hybrid Search has an extensive wealth of senior-level executive search experience; as a result, we look forward to supporting Catalyst in what will prove to be an exciting search for an inspiring and innovative leader for the Centre and Museum.

Role Context

The Catalyst Science Discovery Centre explores the science and technology behind the chemical industry and its impact on our lives past and present through a host of hands-on exhibits, activities and demonstrations. As a result of a successful Inspiring Science Find (ISF) grant win, Catalyst is seeking to appoint a Director to drive the successful implementation of the board’s strategic vision. This challenging role will require a candidate eager to make a positive contribution towards promoting the understanding of chemical science and technology at a significant time of development for the organisation.

The centre has an excellent standing throughout the local community, industry and education and the candidate will seek to build upon this. With project investment funds available, the Director role boasts a unique chance to have a positive impact on the future direction of those interest in a career in the chemicals sector, and engage with a wide audience of visitors.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chair of the Trustees and a proactive Board, the director appointee will lead the day-to-day operation of Catalyst including the oversight of financial management, reporting and increasing visitor numbers. The appointee will work with the Chair and Trustees to identify and develop external relationships with key partners and stakeholders ensuring that the profile of Catalyst is increased locally and nationally. It is anticipated that the time commitment will be equivalent to 16 hours per week.
